Trading Tools Selected

“What we need most is not so much to realize the ideal but to idealize the real” - Frederic H Hedge

I have been working on the data feed and related software packages that I will use. I will fill in the markets and techniques as we go but for now it is important to cover the necessary bases. I need three tools. Three because to my knowledge they are not available in any one (or even two).

The first is a security search function. It should be easy and quick to use and search stocks and futures. I will either use Worden Bros. “StockFinder” or MetaStock to do this. They both have a great reputations for clean data and ease of use. I will only use their end of day data.

The second tool will be Dynamic Traders’ charting software. I bit pricey but extremely flexible in its approach to displaying data. It also has very nice routines to identify Fibonacci and Elliott Wave forms. I have been working with this software and will cover it in some detail later

The third is my real time charting called Fidelity Active Trader Pro that comes with my Fidelity account. Only a portion of the funds I plan to invest using these techniques are in FIdelity but their software comes with the account so it is convenient and free as long as I have a certain number of trades per year. I will use this to monitor my account and track real time prices and 60 minute charts.

I will get into the use of these as I go but for now these will provide access to data and a means to charts, and analyze the data.
